Swami Vivekanand Jayanti has been a regular annual event organized by the organization to infuse the ideas of Swami ji amongst students and youth of the country.
Please find enclosed event details with an earnest request to depute your team of students for participation in the event which shall be held in Basohli.

(162nd Anniversary)
Basohli, the land of colors is a beautiful and natural terrain situated on the South East of J&K State is on the bank of Ravi River, adjoined by Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Basohli originally known as Vishwasthali is known to have existed since 765 A.D however historian’s available records reveal that It was founded by Raja Bhupat Paul sometime in 1635. The place is famous for world known Pahari miniature art, Pashmina Shawls, Ram Leela and Ayurveda. The place is abode of pristine cultural heritage and a tourist destination with Atal Setu and Ranjit Sagar Lake adding to its archaic glory. The town is also home to famous Basohli Palace, a beautiful example of medieval architecture. Basohli’s rich cultural heritage and picturesque landscapes make it a popular tourist destination. It is 72 Kms away from Punjab - J&K border and National Highway stop Lakhanpur. Alternate route via Dhar-Dunera on Pathankot - Dalhousie road from Lakhanpur shortens the journey by 30/40 minutes. Buses are available at regular intervals from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
Vishwasthali is the organization founded on Vijayadashmi of 1993. Registered and recognized by J&K Government on January 15, 1998, it is engaged in the social and cultural awakening of the society. Besides, several social programmes, it celebrates its Annual Day and Swami Vivekanand Jayanti every year in the 2nd week of January. This programme is aimed at cultural exchange among participants of different regions. Students of different institutions are provided opportunity to interact and exhibit their talent in literary and cultural activities.
The celebration of this event is a regular feature of this organization which is eagerly awaited every year by the students and locals.
Following are the guidelines for the participants:-GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS (Please go through carefully)
These contests are exclusively for the students of different institutions.
There is no entry fee but the authority letter / entry form (copy enclosed) forwarded and recommended by the head of institution is must.
All entries should reach our office by December 31,2024. Our organization would not be able to make your registration/accommodation convenient, otherwise. The participants are expected to reach Basohli on the evening of 11th January 2025.
On the evening of 11th January 2025, the reels submitted by the participants of reel making competition would be displayed at the venue and topics for Essay/Poetry and Painting competition would be given to the participants.
Institutions are requested not to recommend more than fifteen total number of participants
Free boarding and lodging facility may be provided on prior intimation
Considering the weather conditions, participants are advised to keep their own blankets also.
Teachers and other assisting staff should stay with team members to maintain discipline and better co-ordination.
In the morning session of 12th January Symposium and Quiz would be held and in the evening session, Folk/Light Vocal Songs and Vivekprashasti events will take place.
Over all best team shall be awarded Vivekanand Trophy for 2025 other than the individual awards.
Decision of the Jury members in respect of different events shall be final and binding
Any complaint or suggestion regarding the event may be made to the management committee for improvement.
Competition will start on the evening of 11th January 2025.
LIST OF EVENTS WITH DETAILS
1 Eligibility:- The competition is open to all individuals aged 15 years and above.
Participants can enter as individuals or as a team (maximum of 3 members).
CONTENT GUIDELINESLIST OF EVENTS WITH DETAILS EVENT NO.1 REEL MAKING COMPETITION Topic:-“Swami Vivekanand ki Drishti mein Viksit Bharat” 1.Eligibility:- • The competition is open to all individuals aged 15 years and above. • Participants can enter as individuals or as a team (maximum of 3 members).
The reel should be between 30 seconds to 90 seconds long
TParticipants must upload their reels on Instagram and tag Vishwasthali’s Official Instagram Handle @vishwasthaliorgofficial. . • Use the hashtags: #SVJ2025 #VivekanandVision #ViksitBharat. • The participants shall submit their reel via email to 19vasco93@gmail.com only after registration of their team with the organisation with the participant’s name(s), contact details, and Instagram handle.
Relevance to Theme (40%): How well the reel reflects Swami Vivekananda’s vision. • Creativity (30%): Unique and innovative presentation. • Technical Quality (20%): Video clarity, audio quality, and editing. • Engagement (10%): Likes, comments, and shares on Instagram
All submissions must be received by 10th January 2025. Late entries will not be accepted.
Exciting prizes will be awarded to the top three entries. Winners will be announced on 12th January 2024 at the venue and organizer’s social media handles.
By submitting the reel, participants grant the organizers the right to use their work for promotional and educational purposes with due credit.
Any content deemed offensive, inappropriate, or against the spirit of the competition will lead to immediate disqualification.
The decision of the judges will be final and binding. The organizers reserve the right to amend the rules or cancel the competition at any stage without prior notice

This shall be on the Pahari Miniature style of Basohli School of Painting.
There shall be the following five groups in this event.
(1) 6th to 8th standard - G-1;
(2) 9th and 10th standard -G-2;
(3) 11th and 12th standard -G-3; and
(4) Others - G-4
In each of the above mentioned four groups, only one participant may take part from each institution.
Participants should be in their school or institution uniform.
Participants will be given topics for the event on the evening of 11th January 2025 and they shall submit their paintings by 12 Noon on 12th January 2025.
G-1 and G-2 : Articles painted in Basohli Miniature viz Hukka, Mat, Jug, Fruits, trays, buildings (Mahals, Houses), Landscapes, Plants and Trees. viz Chestnut, Mango, Rhododendron, Willows, Bahera, Lotus , Animals (Cow, Elephant, Deer, Lion, Snake, Crocodile etc.) etc.
G-3 : Complete faces and land scape painted in Basohli Miniature.
G-4 : Experiment based Painting in Basohli Style.
Participants are advised to practise the topics of their respective groups. However, they will be given only one of the above topic on the evening of 11th January 2025 for painting.
Paintings shall be adjudged on the basis of understanding of the art, coloration and clarity.
3-4 hrs shall be given to the participants of G-1& G-2 and 4-6 hrs to G-3 & G-4
Colors, brushes, drawing boards and drawing sheets etc. should be arranged by the participants themselves.
A-4 size drawing sheets should be used for such paintings
Participants also need to submit a sheet of information on the following points:
(a) a. Source of painting and theme (Name of painting or painter with
a theme in two three lines).
(b) rushes (traditional or else).
(c) Drawing Sheets (traditional or else)
(d) Trace papers and pencils (used or not)
(e) Colors used (stone/ natural herbal/ else
Paintings shall be property of this organization.
Students may go through the book of M.S.Randhawa or similar other books on Basohli Painting.
Overall best school will be presented Late Smt and Shri Daya Krishan Pathak Memorial Trophy.
For Schools:-
Schools are requested to arrange Symposium contest at their schools, at their own level as a preliminary/screening event on any convenient date.
Only first positioned student from an institute should take part in this event
Medium of speech will be Hind
Time allowed will be 3-4 minutes
Questions may be asked to the participants by the audience, judges, other contestants etc.
Not more than one question shall be asked until or unless allowed by the jury members.
Any questioner can ask only one question
Judgment shall be based on understanding of the topic in the background of ideas and ideals of Swami Vivekananda only. Moreover, presentation, language and pronunciation will be other aspects for judgment.
Language, Presentation and contents in the ratio of 1:1:1 shall be the column heads judgment whereas 25% marks are reserved for question answer session.
Participants are required to be in their School/Institution uniform while participating in the event.
Complaints or suggestions can be made during the process of event only
Decision of the jury shall be final and binding.
